Introduction
In the Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) Department, we aim to inspire our students to explore the world outside our borders. All students, of all abilities, will be equipped with the tools to be successful in a modern, multi-cultural society and able to make links with aspects of their own culture, traditions and language.

Key concepts
These concepts build cumulatively throughout the curriculum and will enable all students to become successful in German:
- Threshold concepts (transferable skills e.g. critical thinking, communication, creativity).
- Cultural capital (curiosity into the wider world).
- Phonics.
- Grammar.
- Evidence (translating, speaking and writing).
