Overview
Physical Education (non-examination)
Introduction
Core physical education (PE) is designed to encourage physical activity and a healthy lifestyle and help you to develop a positive attitude to all aspects of physical activity. Although you do not get assessed in core PE we still aim to develop all learners with regards to their skills, health and personal development.
In key stage 4 we focus on developing key life skills: leadership, decision making, resilience, communication, respect, critical evaluation and teamwork.
You will receive a single lesson each week in Years 10 and 11. Throughout the key stage you will be given opportunities to participate in regular activities to help you achieve a healthy lifestyle.
Qualification
This is a non-examination subject.

Beyond the classroom
Considerations
Consider the following when making your PE choices throughout Years 10 and 11:
- Which activities will you be most successful in?
- If you are doing GCSE physical education, which activities do you need to practise and know more about to improve your grade?
- In which activities would you like to develop your ability and knowledge, so that you can take part in them outside of school?
- Are there any new activities you would like to try?
- Do you need to improve your fitness? Which activities will help you to do this?
