Pupil Premium
What is the pupil premium?
The pupil premium is extra money paid to schools by the government to help disadvantaged children achieve more in education. It was introduced in April 2011 and is given to schools according to the number of students who have been:
- registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
- been in care for 6 months or longer
- or have parents in the Armed Forces.
How have we used the pupil premium funding?
This money enables us to make significant improvements in the education we offer at Eckington School, especially for our disadvantaged students. We strongly encourage all eligible parents to register. Please see the strategy statement below which explains how we have used the pupil premium and our plans for how we will use it in the future.
How can I register for pupil premium funding?
We are aware that not everyone who is eligible for free school meals chooses to claim them. However, pupil premium funding enables us to make significant improvements in the education we offer at Eckington, so we strongly encourage all eligible parents to register their child(ren) for free school meals, even if they do not wish to take the free meals.
The only way to register for the pupil premium is to register for free school meals on the Derbyshire County Council website. Parents and carers of students please click the link below to apply for free school meals.
